The
rustic Brazen Head Inn in Mingo played host once again to the Elkins Purple
Majesties in April. The chapter couldn't have asked for a warmer, nicer day
filled with fun and friends. Things got off to a roaring start as Vice Queen
Sharon showed everyone her red
fishnet stockings
plus her black eyes and face from falling two weeks prior and breaking her
nose.
Duchesses
Sue Reece and Becky Mandolidis lead everyone in several fun games and winners
received pretty red and purple spring flower baskets as prizes. Carol Panetta
also received a red hat teacup and saucer as the door prize.
The Brazen Head
Inn was named in honor of Dublin, Ireland's oldest pub (established in 1198),
and was built by innkeeper Will Fanning with the help of his sons
Bryan and Stuart. The mammoth log cabin houses 20 quaint guestrooms with
private baths. The inn features dove-tailed joints, double tongue and groove
walls, and hardwood floors. The restaurant features hearty Irish-American fare
and the pub offers Auld Sod's favorite beverages. On weekends you can catch
the craic (Irish for party!) when local musicians come to jam. Snowshoe
Ski Resort is just a short distance away and other area pastimes include
fishing, mountain biking, hiking, Civil War battlefields, trains, or just
relaxing on the porch.
