The Elkins Purple Majesties turned a few heads when they once again appeared in the annual Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade. Members met a few days prior to the big day and decorated the float with hay bales, picket fences, purple mums, and our chapter website logo. All-in-all it was a farm/western/rodeo theme we went for. 

On parade Saturday, those that rode were treated to a nice lunch beforehand at the Budweiser plant courtesy of EPM hatter Evelyn Warner. West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin and his wife Gayle were even there. Not a group to be shy, several of us introduced ourselves and then we headed off to take our place in the lineup. Everyone wore her best flannel and red cowboy hat. Barbara dressed up as our red haired, red hatted cow and walked behind the float handing out red hats to the crowd. Our little mascot, Pup, even made an appearance in her own purple boa and red hat. She stole the show! Luckily we made it through right before a small drizzle started. Here's to next year!
