Camp Pioneer "Hobo
Picnic"
Beverly WV * October 10, 2011
The
Red Hat ladies had a ball celebrating the beginning of fall at Camp Pioneer in
October. It was dress down day as we were treated to a "Hobo Picnic"
of delicious country fixings. The decorations were adorable and fit right in
with the theme. Newspapers served as our tablecloths, tin cans became vases
filled with wild flowers, we sipped cider and ice tea from Mason jars, and a tin
pie pan became our plate.!
After lunch we enjoyed the WVU Extension Officer telling us about the history of 4-H camp in Randolph County and the improvements that have occurred over the years. It was nice to learn more about the program and how it enriches the lives of our young children and adults.
It was fun to do something a little different and the Hobo outfits the ladies thought of to wear were really cute! It was a great way to start of the reign of our new Queen Mothers who were crowned in September.
