The August "Bring A Guest" luncheon was a roaring
success. Over 90 people attended, including 40 as special guests of members. WHAT
A TREAT to meet so many new people and make so many new friends. We
can't wait to do it again. Check out what happened and view the pictures here.
Several local businesses donated door prizes and favors for the big event. We
cannot thank them enough. (A "Thank You" ad will appear in the
Saturday, August 13, 2005 edition of The Inter-Mountain newspaper.) We hope
everyone had a great time.
REMINDER ... The
September lunch will be at the Odd Fellows Hall on the Beverly 5-Lane. Cost is
$12.00 and reservations are due by NOON Thursday,
September 8th. If you cancel after the deadline you are still
responsible for the cost of your meal. Any questions, please contact QM Sharon
at 636-3937.
August 4, 2005
Reservations for the August lunch at the Baptist Church are

SITE UPDATES:
Anyone who has not yet paid her $5.00 annual dues, please do so at the next meeting or contact QM Sharon. Dues go toward renewing our yearly charter, purchasing membership cards, and covering chapter expenses (such as door prizes, scrapbook items, photocopies, etc.) We would like to print a new address book for the chapter ASAP and we need to finalize all information. Anyone who has paid dues will be included in the book. Please check with Barbara at the next meeting to make sure your information is correct.
If you would like to be a DUCHESS for an upcoming lunch, or other event, please contact QM Sharon. Duchesses are responsible for planning details of specific events -- such as picking the restaurant, working out cost, selecting the menu, decorating if needed, etc. Generally, 2-3 door prizes are given. The Queen Mother keeps a stash of goodies from which you can choose what to give away, and the cost of door prizes are usually covered by the "kitty fund," to which members donate at will. Duchesses DO NOT have to handle taking reservations. The Queen Mother does that as she is the general contact person for the chapter. Being a Duchess is really not hard and you can have a lot of fun doing it! Feel free to get creative or get a few friends to be co-Duchesses with you. Maybe you could plan a make-a-craft day, a shopping trip, a movie night, game night, happy hour, or pot luck picnic. The ideas are endless!! Of course, the Queen Mother is always here to help.

New Queen Mother Sharon has been a busy bee of
late trying to learn the royal ropes. Help make the transition easier -- if you
did not double check your reservations for upcoming
events at the last meeting, please
contact Sharon to check your reservations now. New signup sheets were created
and we want to make sure we didn't miss anyone in the switchover. Now that

OTHER
NEWS: Tonya
Dippert was recently hospitalized but is now back home.
(That's her, far back left, at the Coalton Days Parade.) Nancy
White fell off her deck at home and broke her arm. Of course,
she got a purple
cast! Queen
Sharon has had another go-around in the ER. A week ago she
fell and broke her nose -- AGAIN!!! Some of you may
remember that she also broke it the day before April Fool's Day. She is a little
red and purple in the face ;-) but on the mend. Twila Skinner has also been
under the weather and DQ Judy's mother fell over the weekend and is in
Morgantown. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers.

WELCOME TO SUMMER! Here's
hoping everyone gets in a great vacation, lots of barbecues, and fun time with
family and friends.
Everyone had a great time on June 13, at the fabulous Mountain Quest Inn near Frost, WV. New Queen Mother Sharon's coronation went off without a hitch -- and her daughter Erin surprised her as a guest for the day's events, so both daughters were in attendance for the ceremony. Pictures of the big day will be uploaded to the website soon.
Queen Sharon kicked her reign off in high fashion on Saturday, June 18. Sharon, Dowager Queen JoAnn, Diane Clay, Tonya Dippert, and pink hatter Barbara all participated in the Coalton Day's Parade in full red and purple regalia. The day, however, literally almost went to the dog -- specifically little EPM mascot "PUP" -- a 14 lb. terrier mix who almost stole the show in her own little red hat and purple boa. In fact, it was PUP's picture that turned up in the Tuesday, June 21, edition of The Inter-Mountain, not the parade truck! Special thanks to Margaret Skidmore's daughter Elizabeth who chauffeured the crazy bunch on parade day and Joe Blankenship for taking some great pictures. Here's looking forward to Beverly Days, Forest Festival and more ...
The trip to Lambert's Winery and the chartered bus trip to Charles Town have both been cancelled. There were not enough reservations to make either trip a go at the moment. Guess everyone is too busy now that summer is here. Hopefully both trips can be rescheduled for later.
That's news in a nutshell for now. Check back early next week for pictures from the latest events.

Sad news to report. Norma Fitzwater's mother passed away last
week. Please keep Norma and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Norma also, plus pink
hatter Sue Reece (June 12). Here's wishing Virginia Ratliff (June 14)
and Sue Pifer (June 22) early Happy Birthdays as well.

It's been a while since the site has been updated because of
computer connection problems and I apologize that my luck has been so hit and
miss. Luckily I've found a silver lining and have some goodies for you! PLEASE
READ THE WHOLE UPDATE AS THERE IS A LOT TO CATCH UP ON.
If you would like to leave a comment about the website you can do that via
the
Passion Pit page. There is a simple form to fill
out and you can also read comments left by others. We would love to hear from
you whether you are an EPM red hatter, from another chapter, or simply someone
who's hit upon our site.
FIRST ... a reminder that anyone wanting to
carpool or caravan to the lunch at Mountain
Quest on June 13, please meet at Scotties parking lot that
morning. Any questions, please call QM Judy at 636-4908 or Vice Queen Sharon at
636-3937. This meeting should be a doozy as Sharon will take over the royal
throne from Judy and become our new Queen Mother. Who knows what might be in
store that day! I am sure there will be at least a few surprises and I hear the
Inn at Mountain Quest is just beautiful.
NEXT ... please note the details for the additional
red hat events we have going on this summer and listed in the
calendar at right. You won't want to miss out on the fun at these extra events,
some of which we will enjoy with our sister chapters from Parsons and Buckhannon
WV. Events include a visit to a winery, overnight bus trip, and a pajama
breakfast.
PLUS ... help us spread the word about the
EPM red hat chapter! Place our banner on your website -- to link to us, read the
easy instructions here.
Please know that we are also happy to list other chapters, shopping sites, and related urls under
our own links section. These services are free, just send us your information. If you would like
your website or business to have even more
exposure, however, you can BUY A DISPLAY AD on EPM. Getting started is simple.

A
good time was had by all who attended our Valentine's Day lunch at Humberto's
Mexican restaurant. A few red hatters even picked up some salsa dancing tips
from the Mariachi band that played during the afternoon. Pictures from the event
have been uploaded.

FINALLY! Ringling Brothers should put me in their show after
all the hoops I've had to jump thru lately just to get a smidgen of anything
done concerning computers or websites. Alas, by the grace of God, I am able to
get a few things uploaded and out to the world. I don't know how long my luck
will hold but I'm doing everything I can to get matters resolved and back
running smoothly. Until then ... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I know there is a lot of ground to cover concerning "What's Hatpenning" so I will get right to it:
