LOTS OF NEWS TO REPORT ... so I'll get right to it! Deep apologies for the very long delay in getting things published online. I hope to have more uploaded in the coming week. Site updates are listed at the end.

A lot has happened since I last wrote, most importantly we crowned new Queen Mother Wanda Price during the June meeting at Deerfield Inn in Canaan Valley! I am sure Wanda feels a little overwhelmed at the moment but I am also sure she will do a great job. Remember, Wanda is now the contact for royal inquiries and you must phone her with your reservations. I have updated the website and newsletter with her contact information and it can also always be found in the Upcoming Events list at right. Help Wanda out by offering to be a duchess or making a suggestion about other events we can plan. And note to Wanda: remember, you can always count on the Dowager Queens and the Redmaster for assistance. Don't be afraid to ask :-)

With the changing of the royal guard, I also wanted to give a BIG TIP OF THE RED HAT to outgoing Queen Sharon. She did a wonderful job as monarch over the last year -- surviving our craziness and 3 broken noses to boot! Her reign may be over but she is still going to be one busy momma --  or should I say grandmomma -- with the impending birth of her first granddaughter (and my niece!) in early August. We can't wait to show off little Emma Grace in a pink hat.

A purple plus also goes out to DQM Judy Jack for so successfully managing to be photographer and scrapbook maker for the group. Judy has passed the baton onto pink hatter Nicka, Wanda's granddaughter, and I am sure Nicka will be just as creative. If you take pictures at events please remember to give them, or the photo CD (preferably), to me first so I can add them to the website. I can then pass them onto Nicka to include in the scrapbook. If anyone would like to spend an afternoon helping create scrapbook pages, I am sure Nicka would love the company.

Sadly, as most of you already know, last November saw the passing or our dear friend Carol Judy and also Judy Myers' husband. In January, Carol Panetta's mother passed away and last week DQM Judy Jack's mother passed. I was recently in a car accident and several other members have been sick or have been dealing with family illnesses. Please keep all your red hat sisters in your thoughts and prayers. If you know of anyone who is ill or needs cheering up, please let new QM Wanda know so we can spread the word and get a card out. Also, drop a note to the email newsletter.
