Wahoo!! We have our first Passion Pit comment in 3 1/2 years!
(I've been wondering if we were reaching anyone out there in cyberspace.) Jim Harris sent the following:

"I would like to thank all the members of the Elkins Purple Majesties for allowing me to have a part in your entertainment at your meeting, and for a very enjoyable evening. It's been a long time since I've laughed that much. Y'all have a great Christmas."

Come back anytime Jim! We greatly enjoyed having you and we can't wait until we get to hear you sing again. Bring your friends. The more the merrier!

If you, or anyone you know, would like to make a comment about the website please visit the PASSION PIT guestbook. Feel free to pass along any other feedback you hear about the website. You can forward comments to the REDMASTER

Photos for the December Graceland dinner have been added along with info for January meeting. If you are wondering what the picture above is all about you'll just have to see the photos and read the write-up. The December dinner was certainly one to remember.

PLEASE NOTE: Pictures for the first half of 2008 will be taken down after the first of the year to make room for newer ones. When these pics go offline they will no longer be viewable. Now is your chance to reminisce.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I hope Santa is good to you!

 November 30, 2008

Here is a picture someone recently gave me. It is from April when Dowager Queens Sharon, Judy and JoAnn took in some sun at the Kissel Stop Cafe on downtown Third Street.

New pictures have been uploaded for October and November. They include the October celebration of member Madeline Keaveny's 100th BIRTHDAY and our traditional Thanksgiving buffet. Don't forget the LUCKY ENOUGH music show at the Elks this Friday and next Monday is the Christmas dinner at Graceland. Get your reservations in by Thursday at noon. HAPPY HOLIDAYS.

 November 12, 2008

Info for Lucky Enough performance at Elks has been added at right. New pics for October and November should be posted this coming weekend. HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  November 12, 2008

If you, or any of your friends, would like to leave comments about this website, please visit the PASSION PIT, our version of a guestbook.

New pictures will be uploaded within the next few days. Information for 2009 luncheons will be posted as soon as I get any details.

Remember -- if you would like to be a duchesses or plan any other events, just contact the Queen Mothers. Let your imagination run wild!! Maybe you want to plan an afternoon a movie matinee followed by Happy Hour at Applebee's (appetizers are half off during the week!) Maybe a night out at to see Lucky Enough at the Elks Club or catch the show at the American Mountain Theater? You could plan a trip to Lambert's winery in Weston, the outlet malls in Flatwoods, a show in Morgantown. How about a trip to the spa in Clarksburg, or high tea at the Greenbrier? In the northern panhandle there are Christmas lights at Oglebay or the Fiesta museum and outlet. The possibilities for fun are limitless. Put your thinking caps on gals!!!

HAPPY EARLY THANKSGIVING! I hope everyone enjoyed the turkey dinner at Duke's this week. It never hurts to start celebrating early.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW QUEENS, GAYLE ZIRKLE and EVELYN WARNER on their recent coronation at the August luncheon held at the Elkins Motor Lodge. I am sure Gayle and Evelyn will have a wonderful reign and bring lots of excitement to the group. Pictures have been uploaded from the big day. Check them out here.

PLEASE NOTE: Dowager Queen Susie will be taking reservations for both the September luncheon and the September Pajama Breakfast. I will let you know when this changes to the new queens.

  August 17, 2008

Deepest sympathies go out to EPM member Roberta McNemar and family. Roberta's husband, Don, recently passed away. We have missed you at our luncheons Roberta and all our thoughts and prayers are with you. Please know that we love you and if there is anything we can do for you just let us know.

Some events have been updated in the calendar at right.

  July 23, 2008

Photos have been uploaded for the July lunch at Leading Creek Fire Dept. Click here to view.

Get well wishes also go out to Dowager Queens JoAnn and Sharon. JoAnn pulled a hamstring and Sharon has an eye infection. Must have been too much partying for them ;-) or climbing up on that fire truck at last week's luncheon!!

Hope everyone stays dry for the next few days. Lots of rain is expected due to Hurricane Dolly in the Gulf. At least we won't have to worry about watering our gardens for a while.

  July 13, 2008

All photos in the picture gallery are now up to date. I have uploaded or updated all information that I currently have, that includes pictures, calendar, lunch details, and anything else. I hope everyone is having a great summer. I have been very busy working on the landscaping outside, as usual. We finally got our garden in the ground also. Hopefully in a few months we will have some peppers, tomatoes, cabbage, beans, squash, zucchini, cauliflower, cucumbers, onions, and gourds. If everything grows you will see me at the Farmers Market because we won't be able to eat it all! At least I put landscape tarp down in between rows so I don't have to hoe. That will save me lots of time. And thanks to Mother Nature, I have not had to water it on my own too much. Have a great summer!!

NEW PICTURES ONLINE FOR:

I still need pictures for the luncheons in January and May. If you have picture you would like to share with the chapter, please contact the REDMASTER. Pictures are best given to me on CD disc.

August lunch details have been posted at right. New pictures will be posted soon. One of my dogs tore a ligament a few weeks ago and had to have leg surgery this week to repair it so that has put a kink in a few things around here. Hopefully he is on the mend but Mom and I will have to work with him therapy-wise for the next month or two. It's always something isn't it!

So glad to hear that Jackie & Bob Bright had such a lovely 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration!! The Adaland lunch was a big hit also. It's so nice to get out and celebrate with friends on these nice summer days.

I have some good news to report myself. My sister is going to have another baby come end of January :-) Yep!! little Emma is going to get a baby sister or brother and Dowager Queen Sharon will be grandma once again. Hope everyone is having a good summer.

  June 1, 2008

HI HATTERS!!!  I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the warmer weather. I have some pictures from the last few luncheons that I will be uploading soon. I was unable to get to it sooner as I have had some computer problems. Suffice it to say, I now have a brand new laptop (my first) and have reformatted the other computer. Things are getting back in order and so should I!! Thank goodness! There nothing I hate more than dealing with grumpy computers :-(

The June 9th Red Hat lunch is at Adaland in Philippi. Go to Philippi, go across the covered bridge, turn RIGHT as soon as you go thru the bridge and follow the road and signs out towards Adaland. The mansion sits on a hill up to your right. Most of us have been there before so we should probably already know the way :-)

Also, on JUNE 14TH red hatter Jackie Bright and her husband Bob will celebrate their 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY with a Vow Renewal and Reception!!! Their children, Rob & Jane Bright and Mary & Larry Crowder, request the pleasure of your company in celebrating their parents big day!

SATURDAY * JUNE 14, 2008
SAINT BRENDAN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH
Beverly 5-Lane * Elkins WV

11:30 am - Vow Renewal
12:00 pm - 3:00 pm Reception
You are welcomed to attend both or either one.

Some very sad news to report. Red Hatter Betty Jeanne Glass passed away early this morning at Colonial Place in Elkins. She had been in declining health since October. At the request of the family, Elkins Purple Majesties Red Hatters will meet at the Lohr Barb Funeral Home at 7PM on Friday, March 21, to pay their respects. Please wear purple and red attire.
