McQuain Auctions has been exploring the growing number of auctions on the World Wide Web. We have found the use of the computer in the world of Internet auctions to be a valuable new tool. Researching collectibles and antiques has become much easier. Communication with potential buyers and bidders for local auctions is becoming more global.
It seems, however, that one of the highest and best uses for the computer and Internet is often being OVERLOOKED. There is a great potential for LOCAL AREA NETWORKING, but many local users only use their computer for
email. Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) give customers space for homepages at no additional charge. Many local businesses and individuals do not make use of this invaluable service.WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS CHANGE
Wouldn't it be great if you could ORDER ITEMS and EXCHANGE INFORMATION via a LOCAL AREA NETWORK? Imagine being able to see what is on special at the town grocer or ordering flowers from the local florist. What if you could not only see homework assignments and school schedules but also keep in contact with your child's teacher -- all from the comfort of your home. How about being able to read the latest sport stats or the coverage of the last town meeting? It's all possible, and quite easily so, if a local network of store, business, professional, and individual websites is developed.
We all have been told of the worldwide communications the Internet makes possible - but think of the local network possibilities. The possibilities go on and on. You could read about it, see it and hear the sounds, all from home. Digital TV is here and the time is very near when your TV screen is also your computer screen and your homepage is much like a TV station.
